The Forensic Imaging Specialist will be part of the Computer Investigations and Forensics Division (DS/CTI/CIF) conducts digital evidence recovery and analysis in support of criminal investigations, online and cyber investigations involving DOS information, systems and personnel, and technical surveillance investigative support. The Digital Forensics Lab processes and analyzes digital evidence utilizing a wide variety of advanced computer technologies, encryption schemes, and forensic tools in support of Diplomatic Security’s criminal investigative functions.
This position is located onsite in Rosslyn, VA.
What you’ll do:
The Forensic Imaging Specialist will be responsible for the following but not limited to:
Ensure that forensic community accepted principles and practices are applied.
Intake various forms of digital media, including mobile devices, laptops, servers, thumb drives, etc. while maintaining chain of custody.
Preserve forensic data using industry standard preservation hardware and software. This can include tools such as EnCase, FTK, Forensic Falcon, Tableau TD2 and TD3 and Sumuri Paladin.
Utilize password cracking tools such as Passware, PRTK, and Hashcat.
Maintain physical security of original forms of digital evidence.
Testifying in judicial proceeding for the prosecution.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 1 year experience required. An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain Secret security clearance before start date. Must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance.
Experience with legacy and modern computer hardware such as hard drives, IDE, SCSI, SSD, removable media, and RAID.
Must be able to obtain at least one of the following technical certifications before start date – SANS (GCFE, GASF), IACIS (CFCE, CMFE), Cellebrite (CCPA, CCME), NCFI (BCERT, MDE), and Opentext (EnCE).
Must be able to obtain one of the following certifications prior to start date- CCNA Security; CEH; CISSP; CySA+; GICSP; GSEC; Security+ CE; CND; SSCP.
Preferred Qualifications:
Software specific certifications such as Axiom (MCFE), X-Ways Cert (X-Pert), Cellebrite (CCO), Oxygen (OFCE), AccessData FTK (ACE), etc.
