A health services organization in the New York City is currently seeking a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join their Forensic Mental Health team at one of their inpatient adult psychiatric facilities in Manhattan. In this role, the Forensic Mental Health Nurse (RN) will be responsible for providing general nursing care in a behavioral health setting.
Responsibilities:
The Forensic Mental Health Nurse (RN) will be responsible for: Assessing the patients’ physical needs
Checking and transcribing physicians’ orders in a timely fashion
Administering medication
Admitting, discharging, and transferring patients based on the Physician’s order
Assisting with procedures and physical exams
Conducting checks of treatment rooms for required equipment and ensuring its functionality
Recording appropriate progress notes and other data into the patients’ medical record
Drawing blood, collecting vital signs, etc.
Performing other duties, as needed
Qualifications: 1+ year of Clinical Nursing experience
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
Desired Skills: 1+ year of experience in a Behavioral Health setting
Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and/or in one of the following Human Services field: Counseling, Community Mental Health, Psychology, Recreation Therapy, Rehab, and Social Work
