Principal – Compliance, Forensics and Intelligence

Control Risks

We are seeking an established professional to join our Compliance, Forensics & Intelligence team in Mexico. This position will be responsible for leading the Compliance, Forensics & Intelligence team in Mexico and Central America, being responsible for driving business development efforts, winning and executing complex engagements on behalf of large domestic and multinational clients and leading a team of experienced practitioners.

Tasks and responsibilities

Business development, strategy and marketing

  • Proactively develop opportunities business opportunities, both for the Compliance, Forensics and Intelligence practice as well as other service areas
  • Work across departments and with Partners inside and outside of the Americas to develop business opportunities in the region
  • Lead Control Risks positioning and brand in the market, helping define and drive our business and market strategy in Mexico and the region
  • Help cultivate and grow new and existing relationships with clients, especially with law firms and in-house legal and compliance teams, playing an integral role in building and developing our portfolio of clients in the region
  • Develop marketing plans and personally represent Control Risks in marketing activities as a thought leader in Mexico and globally

Business management

  • Manage and mentor the Compliance, Forensics & Intelligence Mexico team, playing a key role in hiring and developing resources and designing delivery capacity in Mexico and Central America
  • Manage a P&L and maintain responsibility for budget performance, driving financial success and profitable revenue expansion for the Compliance, Forensics & Intelligence business
  • Maintain and build knowledge of industry trends and new tools relevant to growing the Compliance, Forensics & Intelligence business in Mexico

Case work

  • Lead on multi-jurisdictional investigations for international organizations alongside investigations colleagues based in foreign jurisdictions
  • Responsibility for scoping of engagements and management of day-to-day activities

Requirements

  • Significant experience in and measurable track record of developing new and existing client relationships in a professional services firm
  • Deep familiarity with the local professional services client market in Mexico, as well as current affairs, including economic, financial and regulatory developments
  • Thorough understanding of compliance, regulatory, and reputational risks our clients face in Mexico, and the ability to cross-sell and recognize opportunities for all our consulting services
  • Proven experience delivering technical services in a professional services setting, especially in the fields of compliance, internal investigations, due diligence, cyber and/or forensics
  • Experience leading and managing professional teams
  • Leader with track record of high performance and demonstrable strong leadership skills
  • 5+ years of experience in a consulting role
  • Understanding of how to manage complex engagements in challenging jurisdictions
  • Proven track record in communicating clearly and effectively with attorneys and top corporate management in a variety of situations
  • Business fluency in Spanish and English
  • A willingness to travel

  • Understanding of working with outside counsel and being engaged under privilege to support a corporate client
  • Demonstrable ability to build highly effective client relationships at a senior level
  • Proven strong commercial acumen and understanding of developing value propositions
  • Ability to lead an investigative team and deliver results in demanding, confidential and time-sensitive situations
  • Solid report-writing skills

  • Demonstrated ability through established relationships to effectively sell Control Risks services to a variety of buyer groups, including general counsel, compliance officers, internal audit, investigations and law firms
  • Ability to energize and bring together multiple employee types and skillsets to derive the most out of the Mexico Compliance, Forensics & Intelligence team and support their professional development
  • Ability to effectively manage a cross-functional team with Compliance, Forensics & Intelligence and promote leverage and utilization
  • Ability to communicate effectively and regularly the status of the business both financially and operationally, to multiple stakeholders
  • Understanding of the nuances, opportunities and challenges of the Mexico and Central American markets for Compliance, Forensics & Intelligence services
  • Executive presence to be a successful brand ambassador for Control Risks in the market and have peer-to-peer discussions with senior managers and attorneys
