Senior Consultants produce clear, analytical and exceptionally well-written reports that effectively communicate our findings and help clients to make decisions. They combine information provided by Researchers, intelligence obtained from human sources and their own analysis to produce final reports for partner assessments, integrity due diligence, compliance, business intelligence and investigative assignments across Southeast Asia. They also play an active role in business development and scoping and winning work with clients. The role offers the opportunity for the right candidate, with a strong professional and/or academic background on South Asia, to combine your twin passions of analysis and writing and begin a varied and rewarding career with Control Risks.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Lead projects in all countries within South Asia, focusing on high-quality delivery and project management.
  • Produce high-quality reports, including incorporating human intelligence into reports and producing well-structured analysis in line with client objectives.
  • Convey analytical judgment and complex information in a confident, persuasive and accessible manner – both verbally and in writing – that helps clients to resolve uncertainty and make decisions.
  • Work on multiple projects at any one time and manage own workload.
  • Participate meaningfully in client calls/meetings, particularly when delivering the results of our reporting.
  • Produce proposals and lead on scoping discussions with clients, including confidently explaining Control Risks’ due diligence services and demonstrating strong understanding of key client groups and different buyer types.
  • Play a lead role in developing our network of contacts and external resources, with a focus on your key market(s).
  • Produce thought leadership to support marketing and the sales process.
  • Fulfil administrative requirements such as completing weekly timesheets and expenses submission.

Requirements

Knowledge and experience

At least six+ years’ experience in two or more of these relevant fields – such as integrity due diligence, compliance and operational risks, anti-corruption consulting, fraud and corruption investigations, political risk analysis, management or legal consulting, government, investigative journalism, industry experience with a focus on improving internal processes, or ESG related experience.

Deep knowledge of operational and commercial trends in South Asia, including how businesses operate in various sectors; corruption, operational and ESG issues in various sectors; how government and industry interact and operate; the intersection of judiciary, legislature, administration and business; etc.

Qualifications and specialist skills

Essential

  • Excellent command of English language. Excellent report writing skills. Superior communication skills.
  • Ability to think critically and link findings to client objectives.
  • Ability to understand client requirements accurately and translate that into a client-ready offering.
  • Ability to manage and lead on client communication with assistance from director.
  • Ability to look at an issue from a variety of angles, dissect it, make sense of the unfamiliar and rule out weak points
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Passion for learning about businesses, and political and commercial trends.
  • Driven to resolve uncertainty and confusion
  • Understanding of business terminology and commercial nature of Control Risks’ work
  • Understanding of clients’ needs
  • Educated to degree level
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to multi-task

Preferred

  • Strong network of sources across industry, government, academia and media and willingness to tap into these sources for insights.
  • Proficiency in a South Asian language (other than Hindi).
