Providing social risk and compliance advice to our clients in Africa. Focusing on the ‘S’ of ESG, you will apply subject matter expertise in social responsibility and labour/human rights as part of a regional team to support clients in implementing effective social compliance programs.
The role is focused on delivering consultancy projects and involves conducting consultancy tasks (such as training delivery, gap analysis, risk assessments, employment practices reviews, supply chain assessments), providing capacity building support, and designing social compliance monitoring activities.
Supporting the delivery of client engagements by:
- Report preparation and proposal/pitch development for consulting projects

- Acting as client liaison for projects and supporting ongoing relationships, including attending and presenting at client meetings
- Project management, including resource management, delivery risk and profitability management.
- Supporting broader EMEA-wide ESG workstreams with social risk and compliance subject matter knowledge
Growing client relationships and developing new business by:
- Contributing subject matter expertise to written proposals and attending client pitch meetings.
- Identifying and securing new client relationships through pro-active business development efforts and engaging in relevant professional networks.
- Representing Control Risks at events and other business development functions in coordination with other senior members of the team and broader regional management.
- Staying up to date with developments in the subject matter by monitoring external social responsibility, sustainability, and human rights; developing thought leadership pieces to support client engagement
- Collaborating with other regional social compliance or ESG-focused teams on regional business development initiatives.
Requirements
- 3-5 years’ social responsibility and human rights experience, preferably in the EMEA region
- Track record of successfully delivering advice and reports on time to a high quality in an in-house or consulting role
- Preparation of detailed reports, with clear and concise presentation of findings
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Knowledge of UN guiding principles and ILO conventions, and good understanding of human and labour rights issues and passion for the subject matter
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant subject area
- Social auditor qualification (SA8000 or equivalent) preferred
