Manager, Digital Forensics UK

Our client, a global market leader in regulatory compliance, financial investigations, and data analytics, is seeking a Manager, Digital Forensics. The Manager, Digital Forensics will report into the Global Director of Technology Solutions and Forensics and will work closely with the entire Data Governance team. This position will support the execution and delivery of forensic collections and analyses, data processing, statistical data reporting, and other bespoke solutions. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience with industry-leading forensic software, a very strong aptitude for learning new forensic techniques, troubleshooting abilities, experience with programming/scripting and a thorough understanding of computer hardware, software, file systems, networks, the EDRM, and data privacy. Client-facing and consultative skills highly preferred. Candidates with industry standard certifications such as CFCE, EnCE, ACE, GIAC, and experience processing data in Relativity or Nuix will be considered first. 

Responsibilities:

  • The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience with industry-leading forensic software, a very strong aptitude for learning new forensic techniques, troubleshooting abilities, experience with programming/scripting, and has a thorough understanding of computer hardware, software, file systems, networks, the EDRM, and data privacy.

Principle duties:

  • Manage and maintain company digital forensic laboratories, equipment, and software 
  • Utilize a variety of forensic software to identify, collect, preserve, extract and analyze electronic data from laptops, desktops, mobile devices, servers, cloud environments, backup tapes, and other storage mediums
  • Recover deleted user data, hidden data, file fragments, and temporary files
  • Decrypt password protected / encrypted data files and devices
  • Repair corrupt or damaged data and media
  • Coordinate and Assist with data processing activities 
  • Maintain high quality projects notes and documentation during data collection and analysis
  • Compose official forensic reports for use by clients, law enforcement, and/or governmental bodies 
  • Manage and track electronic evidence to maintain a legally defensible chain of custody
  • Adhere to data privacy laws, data movement restrictions, and evidence handling best practices in daily tasks and responsibilities
  • Develop custom forensic tools and scripts as needed
  • Serve as a center of technical knowledge and expertise for the Data Governance department and its clients
  • Provide training, mentorship, and leadership to junior members of the team
  • Undertake a variety of internal administrative projects related to digital forensics, environment housekeeping, testing new processes and/or tools, and assisting other company departments as needed
  • Support clients and team members which will necessitate travel and availability in early mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Assist in recruitment efforts, including resume review, telephone screens, and in-person interviews
  • Assist with business development and marketing efforts

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant digital forensic, technical, and/or managerial experience 
  • Degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields
  • Industry standard certification(s) such as: CFCE, EnCE, ACE, GIAC, or DoD preferred
  • Thorough understanding of computer forensics, cyber forensics, data processing, the EDRM, legal document review requirements, and data privacy
  • Extensive experience with digital forensic applications employed for collecting, preserving, and analyzing data, such as FTK, EnCase, UFED, XRY, Oxygen, Axiom, X-Ways, Digital Collector, and Inspector
  • Experience with processing tools such as Nuix and or Relativity preferred. 
  • Skilled at collecting electronically stored information using industry standard software tools and techniques
  • Excellent knowledge of Windows client and server environments
  • Experience with Unix and Apple operating systems
  • Experience collecting and processing various data formats, including chat, social media, email, disk images, file shares, structured data, etc.
  • Accomplished at writing forensic expert reports
  • Prior testifying experience desired
  • Knowledge of Relativity and/or other document review management systems
  • Previous experience interacting with internal and external stakeholders via email, phone and in-person
  • Prior experience with marketing and business development efforts
  • Experience attaining ISO 17025 accreditation desired
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels
  • Legally authorized to work in the United Kingdom and to travel globally
  • Flexibility to travel as needed, up to 30%
  • Fluent English speaker
  • Bilingual desired
