DSHS ESH Psychiatric Security Nurse – Behavioral Health Licensed Practical Nurse
We are building our team of LPN staff who have experience caring for people that have behavioral health conditions. The Psychiatric Security Nurse provides licensed practical nursing (LPN) care and safety oversight within the forensics unit of the treatment facility, Eastern State Hospital. Our patients are people with serious or long-term behavioral health issues who count on us as they work toward healing and growth. Currently, we have multiple PSN scheduling opportunities including day, swing, and night shift, full-time or on-call.
Through your great communication skills, you will develop long-term therapeutic 
relationships with patients. If the situation arises, you will safely and therapeutically intervene with patients utilizing assistance from your support team.  

Hiring Bonus
$1,700 bonus. ($850 after probation period; $850 after 1 year post-probation period). Bonus is prorated for part-time employment. Minimum 6 month break in service for returning employees to qualify for bonus.

What you will do in this job: 

  • Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, you’ll provide direct skilled nursing care to adults experiencing behavioral health issues
  • Participate in the treatment planning, administer medication, as well as implement and chart treatment interventions
  • Be a patient advocate for health maintenance and clinical care by monitoring conditions that may be detrimental to the care and treatment of your patients

Who should apply?

Professionals with a valid Washington State license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse or the ability to obtain a valid license before employment.
One year of experience in caring for patients or residents in a hospital, school, or other treatment facilities.
