Eastern State Hospital, in Medical Lake, WA, has opportunities for Psychologists to join our highly dedicated team in our mission to Transform Live and to work closely with our Forensic Evaluators, courts, social workers, and medical team. Eastern State Hospital is a fully accredited, psychiatric inpatient, state-owned hospital with the Department of Social and Health Services.

Hiring Bonus
$7,500 bonus. ($2,500 post new employee orientation; $2,500 post-probation period; $2,500 after 1 year post-probation period). Bonus is prorated for part-time employment. Minimum 6 month break in service for returning employees to qualify for bonus.
 
Primary Priorities:
 

  • Provide individual and group psychotherapy to support patients’ treatment goals designed to empower patients, instill hope, and support self-discovery and independence; approximate caseload of 30 patients
  • Consult with treatment teams
  • Complete psychodiagnostic assessments along with supporting clinical documentation
  • Provide in-service training and clinical supervision of Psychology Associates (as needed)
  • Provide court required documentation and expert testimony (as needed)

We have opportunities in the specialized areas below:
 
Specialty #1:  This ESH Psychologist serves the Geropsychiatric Unit providing specialized care to our geriatric patients. In addition, you will provide forensic evaluations to people assigned by the Involuntary Treatment Act. We will look to you to conduct neuropsychological evaluations, collaborate with the Habilitative Mental Health Treatment Ward Psychologist, and advise the GPU Administrative Director on matters pertinent to the overall treatment milieu.
 
Specialty #2
:  This ESH Psychologist serves the Forensic Services Unit, Competency Restoration Program. You will provide services to people who are being evaluated or treated for competency to stand trial. As a vital consultant to the Treatment Team, you will serve to help monitor, evaluate, and revise the CR Program in collaboration with the Behavioral Health leadership. This program may be audited to ensure compliance and adherence to the established CR Program curriculum and this will fall under your responsibility.
 
Who should apply
 

  • A Doctor of Psychology (Ph.D./Psy.D.) in clinical or forensic psychology from an accredited university;
  • Licensed or eligible to obtain a license in Washington to practice psychology by hire date; and
  • Experience with forensic populations and/or people with severe behavioral health issues or specialized training in working with geriatric patients and conducting neuropsychiatric assessments.
