Duties:

This position is located in the Forensic Science Laboratories, Office of Science and Technology, Beltsville, MD.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to ATF criminal investigations by analyzing evidence for fingerprints.
As a Fingerprint Specialist, your typical work assignments may include: Perform difficult fingerprint examinations including processing evidence and comparing fingerprints and
Provide written laboratory reports and court testimony on the basis laboratory examinations and
Serve as a technical authority in the analysis of fingerprint evidence and
Train, coach, guide other fingerprint specialist and technicians in their technical duties and
Advise and assist special agents at crime scenes.

Qualifications:

To qualify for GS-12 candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-11.

This is a non-bargaining unit position.

Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume. Special experience for this position is defined asprocessing evidence, developing latent fingerprints and comparing fingerprints, both visible and latent.
