The Police Department is currently seeking highly qualified individuals to fill a vacant Firearms Examiner position, grade P-24, in the Firearms Examination Unit (FEU).
The position of Firearms Examiner is a professional and technical position involving forensic examinations in the areas of firearms, toolmark, and serial number restoration; must have computer skills to operate FiiS-LIMS system and preferably the NIBIN system. The applicant should have courtroom experience and be able to assist other sections and jurisdictions with examination requests. Work assignments require knowledge of the Personnel Law, Departmental General Orders, Standard Operating Procedures of the Firearms Examination Unit and the ability to communicate effectively with others. The incumbent performs assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with the established performance standards and treats all personnel and personnel related matters as strictly confidential.
