About the Position: Serves as a Specimen Controller assigned to the Forensic Toxicology Drug Testing Laboratory, an organization providing support for the overall substance abuse program for the United States Army and Department of Defense. Duty location is Fort Meade, MD. Cut-Off: Once a month or when management requests list.

Duties:

Performs mutual quality control checks on the work of fellow Specimen Controllers on a daily basis.

Incumbent is responsible for performance of technical and administrative support functions necessary for successful unit mission accomplishment.

The incumbent performs a wide variety of detail-oriented technical and administrative duties in a narrow specialty area of a scientific field.

Uses a computer, in support of the specimen accessioning and handling.

Functions include, but are not limited to specimen handling and storing, laboratory operations, administrative and logistical support.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing a computer to record, store, and retrieve medical information; sending customer inquiries to the appropriate personnel; and taking inventory of specified items to ensure accuracy of reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service, GS-05. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Chemistry Communications Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
