We are currently recruiting for Health Care Technician II’s that will function as a Therapeutic Support Specialist II (TSS II) at Central Regional Hospital (CRH) on the Forensic Services Unit.   The Forensic Services Unit (FSU) is a three sectional unit serving the Pretrial/Maximum, Medium and Minimum security needs of the court-ordered patients.   FSU provides services for all counties in the entire State of North Carolina. 
The primary purpose of this position is to monitor patients and perform technical procedures (within scope of practice). Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Assisting patients with activities of daily living.
  • Obtaining vital signs.
  • Maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Assisting with hospital/unit–based programming.
  • Engaging patients in behavioral activities.
  • Following physician ordered patient care.
  • All healthcare duties are delegated by and completed under the supervisor of a Licensed Nurse.
There are multiple vacancies on various shifts and units. Available shifts include Monday-Friday with alternating weekends and holidays as scheduled.

1st Shift: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
2nd Shift: 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.
3rd Shift: 11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
These are full-time positions and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather.

Position: Multiple Positions

As of June 1, 2022, the new salary/paygrade and salary range will be:
Paygrade – MH01
Salary Range – $29,443 – $44,164
For current State employees, please note that as of June 1, 2022, promotional priority and RIF priority will be based on the new salary/pay grade.
