District Attorney Investigator II

The County of Yolo is recruiting to fill three vacancies: two regular, full-time positions and one limited-term, full-time position in the class of District Attorney Investigator II at the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office.  The limited term position will expire December 31, 2026.  The eligible list that is established as a result of this recruitment will also be used to fill future vacancies that may become available. 

In addition to the salary posted in this job bulletin, employees receive additional compensation, up to a total of 15% of base, by stacking a maximum of two of the following incentives: 

  • 2.5% for possession of Intermediate POST   
  • 7.5% for possession of Advanced POST   
  • 2.5% for possession of a 2 year degree   
  • 7.5% for possession of a 4 year degree
  • 10% for possession of post graduate degree 

Previous verified service in a State, local, or county public agency as a sworn safety member may be credited towards the calculation of vacation accrual rates/longevity pay.

Under general supervision, the incumbent performs a variety of complex, highly skilled investigative work, which may include assignments to the most difficult and sensitive investigations calling for unusual methods and techniques, and may include assignment as an investigative specialist; performs other related duties as required.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This is the journey level in the District Attorney Investigator Series.  Incumbents perform skilled investigative work in the more serious criminal cases as well as sensitive cases involving public officials.  Incumbents in this classification may be required to oversee and coordinate responsibilities in special investigations with other law enforcement agencies.  Incumbents may be assigned to either Criminal, Family Support or Special Services positions.
