DSHS ESH Civil Court Order Supervisor
The Department of Social and Health Services is seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Court Order Supervisor to join our team at Eastern State Hospital (ESH). Apply today and put your organizational skills to work as you to start a rewarding career in helping to Transform Lives.
You’ll be responsible for supervising assigned staff who support the court ordered civil preadmission screening program. You’ll make sure that patients are committed under appropriate legal authority per RCW 71.05 and 10.77.
Some of what you’ll do:
- Coordinate with the admission team, admission nurse, Civil/Forensic Administrative Directors, clinical staff, treatment teams, and court personnel,
- Primary contact, hospital liaison and subject matter expert regarding civil admissions, discharges, transports, scheduling, legal authority, and case status,
- Consult with supervisor and Civil Administrative Director regarding potential admission/discharge issues or changes/irregularities,
- Oversee and monitor Eastern State Hospital’s civil inpatient waitlists,
- Track and monitor all civil legal court documents received from various court jurisdictions,
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure professional completion of dictated petitions,
- Track time frames to ensure documentation is filed with the Superior Court timely,
- Ensure all legal documents conform with state laws and statutes and make appropriate contact for clarification and/or corrections.
We’re looking for professionals with:
High School graduation or equivalent
AND
At least 3 years of applicable experience in the program specialty
OR
Equivalent education/experience.
Desired:
- Three years of experience with Microsoft Office software products including Word, Excel, and Access
- Knowledge of and ability to: read, understand, and interpret applicable RCWs, WACs, court orders, WATCH reports, policies and procedures
- Experience using psychiatric medical terminology
- Ability to produce and/or revise a wide variety of complex legal, medical, and clinical documents and reports from tape, digital, and voice recordings
- Ability to produce accurate work in a fast paced and open office with frequent interruptions to daily work assignments, competing priorities and ever-changing work processes
- Ability to work with difficult or angry patients in a therapeutic, non-threatening manner
