US Government, Dept. of Social and Health Services
We are seeking a Psychiatric Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner who is compelled to serve others to join our team at Western State Hospital’s Civil Center of Excellence. Providing mental health care and accountability to forensic and civilly committed patients is an excellent role to expand your knowledge and experience with a variety of diverse and complex cases.
Working closely with a team of professionals to provide holistic care to our patients, your valuable expertise will provide input on how to promote recovery and well-being in partnership with the people we serve, bridging the gap between physical and behavioral health care.

If you have compassion for behavioral health advocacy and are looking for a career to use your education and experience to make an impact in your community, this is the perfect opportunity.
Some of what you will do
- Provide consultation, medication evaluation, and oversight to a range of people experiencing behavioral health issues
- Diagnose and treat acute behavioral health conditions or illnesses; prescribe medication, and monitor medication regime
- Coordinate and integrate multidisciplinary services for patients, collaborating with medical physicians, social workers, nurses, and rehabilitative therapists to ensure the patient’s treatment plan is effective for each person
- Deliver patient care, conduct status evaluations and assessments, and create diagnostic formulation
- Monitor health care issues, consult with medical physicians, and refer for specialized medical care as needed
What we are looking for
- A professional with a license or is eligible to obtain a Washington State license to practice as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP), or WA State issued temporary permit
- Advanced knowledge and clinical experience in behavioral health diagnosis and treatment
