Psychiatric Security Nurse – Licensed Practical Nurse
At Western State Hospital, the work of our nurses is best described as remarkable. Our patients are people with serious or long-term behavioral health issues who count on us as they work toward healing and growth.
In the Center for Forensic Services, you’ll provide nursing care, ward security, and treatment on a ward within our secured facility.
Through great communication skills, you will develop long-term therapeutic relationships with patients. If the situation arises, you will safely and therapeutically intervene with patients utilizing assistance from your support team.
The bonus is prorated for part-time employment. Minimum 6-month break in service for returning employees to qualify for the bonus. Evening and Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate. Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.
Some of what you’ll do:
- Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, you’ll provide direct skilled nursing care to adults experiencing behavioral health issues
- Participate in treatment planning, administer medications, as well as implement and chart treatment interventions
- Be a patient advocate for health maintenance and clinical care by monitoring conditions that may be detrimental to the care and treatment of your patients
We’re looking for someone who has:
- A valid Washington State license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse or the ability to obtain a valid license before employment
- Two years of experience in caring for patients or residents in a hospital, school, or other treatment facilities
