About the Division:
The Crime Laboratory Division (CLD) enhances public safety by providing high-quality forensic science services and forensic evidence training for all criminal justice partner agencies within the State of Washington.
 

CLD operates five multi-service crime laboratories in Seattle, Tacoma, Marysville, Spokane, Vancouver and limited-service crime laboratories including the Kennewick and Tumwater laboratories, and the CODIS Laboratory in Seattle. The laboratories provide quality forensic services for criminal justice agencies within the state of Washington.

All laboratories are accredited through the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB).

About the Position:

The Forms and Records Analyst (FRA) Supervisor supervises Forms and Records Analysts and handles public disclosure and discovery requests for the Bureau, ensuring that we meet the legal requirements for timely response to public disclosure requests. In addition, the position provides administrative support to the Standards and Accountability Section, Toxicology Division, and Impaired Driving Section. This position will help the Forensic Lab Services Bureau (FLSB) achieve the vision of becoming the “best forensic laboratory system in the nation.”

The incumbent oversees the records retention and public disclosure functions of the Forensic Laboratory Services Bureau. They train and instruct FRAs in critical information systems including GovQA, Laboratory Information Management Systems, CODIS, and other systems related to records management and storage. They monitor the backlog of public disclosure requests and assign work to ensure all PDRs are released appropriately and timely.

Interacts with managers, supervisors, and staff to coordinate collection of responsive records, filling out the proper forms such as the Public Records Control Sheet, and answering questions about the public records and records retention policies.  The incumbent works with the WSP Public Records Officer to ensure the FLSB is in compliance with state statutes on public records disclosure.
