US Government, DAJD-Adult/Juvenile Detention
This recruitment is for a part-time Personal Recognizance Investigator. This recruitment will fill current vacancies and establish an employment list (valid up to 12 months) to fill future vacancies as they become available.
The duties of a Personal Recognizance Investigator (PRI) include conducting one-to-one interviews with persons who have been newly booked into jail to determine release eligibility and make appropriate program and release recommendations. Incumbent has direct contact with the inmate population. PRI staff works collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders including inmate references and agencies. Screening/intake interviews are conducted within the booking area and inmate housing areas of the correctional facility, and entails working with a diverse population of inmates, departments and court personnel.
Duties within secured adult detention facilities require the ability to navigate ramps, narrow hallways, opening and closing heavy doors and working in confined areas. Population includes potentially volatile individuals with emotional, mental health, and alcohol and/or substance abuse-related problems.
Personal Recognizance Investigators, also known as, PR Screeners, work within the Community Corrections Division of DAJD. This division provides services pre and post-convictions in CCAP, EHD, and ISU; as described below.
- Community Center for Alternative Programs (CCAP) holds offenders accountable to a weekly itinerary directed at involving the offender in a continuum of structured programs.
- Electronic Home Detention (EHD) allows offenders to serve all or some portion of their pre-trial and/or sentenced time at home. Offenders are monitored electronically and are confined to their homes, except when following a set schedule that may include attendance at work, school, or treatment.
- The Intake Services Unit (ISU) provides information to the court to expedite the release of appropriate defendants awaiting adjudication or to ensure that offenders are not incarcerated when other appropriate alternatives are available.
