Performs all duties associated with the Rabies Control Act. Investigates animal bite reports, quarantine animals as required, and submits animal specimens to laboratory for testing.
Assists in the coordination and promotion of rabies clinics. Assists with conducting outreach as required when positive cases have been identified. Serves as a member of the regional rabies on-call team. Provides technical assistance and proper documentation of animal bites; subject to 24/7 on-call and callback duties due to emergencies on a rotational basis.
Conducts or participates in conducting investigations in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), programmatic guidance, and state/federal laws and regulations. Submits detailed, factual, and completes inspection reports in a timely manner as outlined in the rabies standard operating procedures for the agency. Assists with documenting and communicating with victims and stakeholders. Assists in performing vector specialist activities.
Assists or participates in complaint investigations. Completes all necessary administrative tasks and documentation as required and requested to include fulfilling FOI requests.
Performs other duties as assigned, which include, but is not limited to, attending periodic staff meetings and training.
