This position is located at the Department of Mental Health – Inpatient Services, 220 Faison Drive, Columbia, SC 29203.

As the Psychologist II, working under general supervision, you will participate in and/or oversee treatment programming and planning for acute and extended care forensic services and direct the professional psychological services rendered to forensic patients within an inpatient setting.

Responsibilities for this Psychologist II include but are not limited to:

  • Participates in and/or direct multidisciplinary treatment planning for assigned patients at Bryan Forensics. Performs or participates in admission evaluations/assessments as assigned. Supports forensic discharge planning as directed.
  • Provides psychological assessment and consultation services to support forensic treatment needs, to include diagnostic clarification, malingering, violence risk assessment, etc. Develops behavioral intervention plans for patients.
  • Provides individual and group therapy services for Bryan Forensics patients, to include competency restoration services.
  • Provides training, consultation and clinical oversight to psychology and/or counseling interns.
  • Provides clinical oversight and consultation to the BPH Forensic crisis team (identified counselors/social workers), implementing evidence-based treatment strategies to reduce incidents of patient aggression.
  • Provides training and ongoing consultation for other clinical staff in evidence-based interventions.
  • Performs social security disability evaluations to support discharge platforms, as directed.
  • Provides age-specific and culturally competent service to clients and comply with DMH and Bryan Hospital policies and procedures.
