We are recruiting Licensed and Licensed-eligible psychologists for our various regions (see map below). interested in a career in a forensic setting that specializes in evaluations of juvenile justice-involved youth undergoing court-ordered evaluations. Our setting may be an ideal fit for new career psychologists who have completed pre- or post-doctoral training and are interested in a juvenile population or someone making a career or geographical shift to beautiful South Carolina. The position is located at the South Carolina Juvenile Justice Community Psychology division.
MISSION:
It is the mission of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to impact and transform young lives, strengthen families, and support safer communities through targeted prevention and rehabilitation.
JOB PURPOSE:
To complete comprehensive Psychological Evaluations for the youth involved with the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice. Reports should thoroughly describe the youths’ strengths and needs and be completed according to deadlines.
JOB DUTIES:
Provides psychological services (primarily evaluation and consultation) for youth involved with the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.
Provides evaluation services, including clinical interviews with youth and family members, record reviews, consultations with DJJ County Office staff, and other agencies involved with youth being evaluated.
Administers and interprets psychological tests and measures.
Once licensed, conducts transfer/waiver/bind-over evaluations.
Participates in DJJ treatment planning and interagency staffing; consults in cases of youth with special needs (e.g., mental health or developmental issues); consults with DJJ County Office staff regarding problematic issues/cases.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
